How to investigate a ticker missing from option scan results

Scans run August 17 to August 28, 2026 via Spreadsearch

Editorial note (September 25, 2026): This page was substantially revised to replace the original scan-data summary with a methodology note. The original URL and reporting period have been retained for continuity.

Purpose of the review

The original late-August report recorded that one panel name did not appear in the filtered results. The information available at the time did not establish why.

This is more useful as a data-quality lesson than as a conclusion about the ticker. Absence from a result table does not prove that every option was tightly quoted.

Possible explanations

No contract met every filter. Some options may have passed the spread thresholds but failed the minimum bid or volume condition.

The qualifying quote did not occur during a scan. A later or earlier chain check cannot reconstruct the exact quotes that were available at the scan times.

Coverage may have been incomplete. Contract retrieval, session timing, connection issues, or the way the panel was divided can affect the captured result set.

The panel configuration may need checking. A missing or incorrect symbol, an unintended exclusion, or a changed contract definition can prevent expected results.

A simple investigation checklist

When a ticker is unexpectedly absent, the review should:

1. Confirm that the ticker was included in the scan configuration.
2. Check whether contracts were requested and returned.
3. Review which filters removed the available contracts.
4. Check logs for connection or request errors.
5. Repeat the scan under the same settings.
6. Record the cause as unknown if the historical evidence is insufficient.

What a later check can show

A later live check may confirm that the ticker is capable of displaying wider quotes. It cannot prove what the system received during the earlier scan period. The two observations occurred at different times.

This distinction helps prevent an unexplained gap from becoming an unsupported liquidity conclusion. For more information about scan limits, see How It Works.
